While some people are buying properties to rent out on the Iberian Peninsula, others are planning to emigrate westward for work. What are the best-paid jobs in Spain, and when is it worth considering moving abroad?

Spain is a popular destination not only for investors, but also for digital nomads and professionals looking for better-paid jobs. It is estimated that in 2024, the number of Poles living there will be at least 85,000. These are only registered residents, so the actual number may be much higher. The main reasons why Poles choose this country are the Mediterranean climate, the distinctive lifestyle, as well as attractive prices for premium real estate and high salaries in specific positions. Find out how much you can earn in Spain and which professions are the most lucrative.

The highest-paid professions in the medical and financial sectors

The best-paid professions in Spain are primarily those in the medical sector. Some of the highest salaries in the country are earned by specialist doctors, mainly surgeons and anaesthesiologists. Radiologists and dentists, especially orthodontists, can also expect equally high salaries. As in Poland, doctors can work in both the public and private sectors.

And what are salaries like in Spain's financial sector? The elite include financial directors, or CFOs, whose high salaries are primarily due to their high level of responsibility. It is people in this position who are responsible, among other things, for the stability of a company. In addition to them, financial experts and analysts also receive some of the highest salaries in Spain.

Prestigious positions in management and technology – the best-paid professions in Spain

Medicine and finance are just the beginning. Among the highest-paid professions in Spain are also management positions, such as chief executive officers (CEOs). These are people who have reached the highest level of their career in a company, and their daily responsibilities include making strategic decisions and managing the company.

The same is true for operations managers and supply chain managers in the industrial sector. This mainly applies to people with many years of experience, who can count not only on high starting salaries, but also on salary increases with increasing seniority.

Salaries in the IT industry are equally attractive. The highest salaries in Spain in this industry are earned by directors, but not only. Experienced data analysts, cybersecurity specialists and software testers are equally well paid.

Other well-paid jobs abroad

What are the other best-paid professions in Spain? High salaries can be expected by:

  • engineers – in particular design and construction engineers, who are in high demand due to ongoing investment in the country,
  • lawyers – however, we are talking about professionals specialising in international or Spanish law.

What is more, there are certain professions that are still experiencing a shortage of workers, although the salaries may be lower than, for example, those of programmers. These include machine and equipment mechanics, archivists and accountants

How much is the salary in Spain depending on the region? The best locations

How much you earn in Spain depends not only on the industry and position, but also on the region. As in Poland, the highest average salaries are offered in large cities such as Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia. In the capital, salaries can be up to 20% higher than in other parts of the country.

Average earnings in Spain are higher than in Poland. The monthly salary is approximately €2,442 gross, which is over PLN 10,000. In turn, the minimum wage in 2025 will be €1,381 gross.

What is the reason for Spain's popularity? Earnings are not everything.

The best-paid jobs in Spain, covering various industries – from IT to medicine – are just one of the many reasons why the country is so popular. Factors related to everyday life, such as the opportunity to spend free time outdoors practically all year round and the balance between career and private life, are also important.

Spain offers:

  • up to around 320 days of sunshine a year if you decide to buy a property on the Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca,
  • a Mediterranean lifestyle, characterised by a slower pace, siestas and a greater emphasis on interpersonal relationships and spending time with loved ones,

  • open-minded, helpful residents who are smiling and focused on building relationships with their neighbours and colleagues.

In addition, employees in Spain are entitled to 30 days of holiday and 12 public holidays per year. In the case of marriage, they receive up to 15 additional days off.

The ideal moment to move to Spain

Knowing the well-paid professions abroad and the average earnings in Spain, it is worth considering when is the ideal time to move to the Iberian Peninsula. A good time for relocation is at the peak of your professional career. This is not only about extensive experience and qualifications, which will allow you to negotiate a high salary in Spain.

It is also about having sufficient capital to purchase luxury real estate and, consequently, take advantage of the differences in purchasing power between Poland and Spain. Rising average wages indicate stable economic growth in the country, thanks to which investing in an apartment or house is not only a safe way to invest your savings, but may also prove to be more profitable.

What is more, removal should be considered by professionals working remotely or in an international environment. Relocating to Spain allows you to combine higher earnings with an excellent quality of life, a warm climate and healthy and tasty Mediterranean cuisine.

Sunny weather, access to the Mediterranean Sea and relatively low living costs are not all that Spain has to offer. With average salaries higher than in Poland, it is also a popular destination for qualified and experienced professionals. Well-paid professions abroad include doctors, programmers, financial directors, architects and industrial engineers.
